Our milk was delivered by a horse-drawn milkfloat in the 70s because the dairy owner's son was too young to hold a driving licence - the horse knew the route around the housing estates and stopped in all the right places and grazed the verge while the lad delivered the milk.

However, as Ma is ninety-three and a half, we're talking about goods being delivered by horse and card around 80 years ago - Hosta, perhaps Waitrose would get you a cob and cart - much more environmentally friendly image

This is interesting to read - I probably have a ready supply of guinea pig poo from a relative. Is there such a thing as too much poo?

    Marvellous.

I should clarify, it's the guinea pig owner I'm related to, not the piggy itself.

Why not get yourself is Guinea pig ,then you will have it in one ! ++plus a pet?

    Or a rabbit even!!?

  • Hi there, curious why it has to be guinea pig poo, I used to keep chickens and their poo and bedding was a really good addition to my compost, I know I'm in the beautiful Dorset countryside but keeping chickens isn't just a country pursuit and they will produce more poo than a few guinea pigs, and you get wonderful organic eggs, you don't need  a huge amount of space especially if you just have a few bantams. There's always gumtree too, if your shop notices don't work. Or if you have younger children/grandchildren/nieces/nephews a chat around the playground at pick up time will nearly always find you someone who can help out- or is chatting and being friendly with your neighbours and community just a country village thing?- you could always start a revolution and get your neighbourhood talking to one another?image Best of luck.
