Hi folks,

Any idea what this tree is? It's got a lovely ferny willowy look and has just gone an amazing red colour. It has long willow like leaves but the leaves are jagged. Any ideas?

Cheers

James

    Any chance of a photo?

    Ooops sorry, edited!

  • Does it flower or berry?

I'm not sure. There were a lot of bees up it earlier in the year but they may have just had a nest up there.
  • I wandered if it was a type of Sorbus, some of them have that kind of leaf.

I'll have a look at sorbus and see if it looks similar, thanks image I'll try and get some better pics tomorrow. I don't think it's that easy to see from the ones I got.

    Cheers

  • There are different types of Sorbus so make sure you look at different ones.

I keep peering at pic 2 but I can't tell whether or not those leaves are pinnate.

  • I'd say it was Sorbus Commixta - the Japanese Rowan -  from the pics.  Lovely tree, and superb colour.

It could certainly be a Sorbus but I am thinking more Ash like but from the images it is hard to say.  A close up of the buds would tell you straight away which it is.
