In the spring my friend gave me a bit of Cardoon root and I foolishly put it next to my rhubarb . Now it is growing like mad and smothering the rhubarb. It needs to be moved. When is the best time to move it - now or next Spring?
Good luck - I had a couple in the wrong place and tried to move them a couple of years ago and had no luck due to the roots, they weren't going anywhere!!! So the ones I wanted to move, I now cut down regularly throughout the growing period so they just have foliage. The others that are in the right place are allowed to flower and seed.

I'd move it now while you can still find it and before it starts to reach for the skies next year.
If you live in Derbyshire, as I do.
Thank you Pansyface - I will get the fork out today and move it. I wonder why it is growing like mad now when it didn't do a thing all summer?
Its roots have just got going.
They are BIG. Dig accordingly.
