Lilac not flowering

I bought a Lilac 2 years ago with beautiful dark flowers on. Last year it did not flower and again it did not flower this year. The plant is healthy and growing well. I would like to see some flowers next year, any advice?

I had the same problem when I got my first lilac. They do take a while sometimes. threatened ended it and then it flowered! Funnily enough mine hasn't flowered this year, it was a bit battered by the late snow, but the one at the top of my garden is fine.
