Rockery

Hi

Was tired of the boring soil in the front garden and we had soooo many broken pots and logs that I decided to try and make a rockery/wildlife haven.

I need to wait for the alpines to get settled and stuff... any advice appreciated.

That looks very pretty. Just need to keep it weeded. Some gardeners cover alpine gardens with fine gravel which keeps weeds down, moisture in and keeps the necks of the plants dry so they don't rot in wet weather.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Agree with Busy Lizzie, fine alpine grit really sets the plants off and helps with slugs and moisture retention.

Ooooh great idea... thanks I will get some in that case image I'm assuming any fine grit will do and that it doesn't need to be anything in particular?

Looks great! Probably any fine grit would do although we got a bag of 'horticultural grit' from the garden centre quite cheaply
