I broke the lupin flower off by accident

Dear All

I planted two lupins this year and they were looking great.  Unfortunately with high wind my fence broke off and damaged one - it snapped of the flower off completed - will it grow back?  Next year ? What do you do with the stem - cut it back.

  • Hi, PDMI. If it is a young lupin, it is probably better off without its flower. It needs to develop good roots and more leaves to feed them. I've just deliberately taken the flowers off two young lupins of mine. Cut back the stem and let it develop and it may flower again later this year.

I'm not surprised at anything snapping off today, cut it back and it may make more flowers this year

When they grow up again you might want to consider putting a stake next to it,to give some support.
