HELP, HELP HELP I HAVE A VERY POORLY CAMELIA. IT HAS A FEW FLOWERS AND A VERY FEW LEAVES. I DO LIVE IN SOUTH WALES SO IT HAS BEEN VERY COLD. ANY ADVISE, PLEASE?
Camellia is very hardy.
What sort of soil have you? Camellias need acid soil
Are you feeding it? They need ericaceous feed
Is it in an exposed part of your garden?
Is it in full sun? Camellias need part shade or light shade
Come abck with more details and I my be able to help some more
They also need plenty of rainwater during late summer/autumn to help make flower buds for next year.
Some specialist nurseries give a lot of advice about camellias. My local one (mid Cornwall) Burncoose has a page on caring for them. They should know - they've bred a good few!
I have never fed my camellia and it is fairly exposed. As it flowered so late, due to the weather, it still has flowers on it and as I said there are few leaves, but new growth is appearing. I will feed it and give it some TLC then see how it goes. It's certainly not dying. Thanks.
