Hibiscus needs pruning

I have a well established hibiscus that needs a good prune, it has just finished flowering, is now a good time to give it a prune?

We live in Wiltshire, the hibiscus in in a fairly sheltered location against the house. It is far too big, can I give it a hard prune?
