yellow dogwood

can anybody help me please.

my yellow dogwood grows to the left if you are facing the plant.  in the 2015 prune hubby cut out the crooked branches growing to the left.  we then tied the rest of the branches up with string in an effort to make it grow straight.  still it grows crooked.

can anybody give me advice please.

Is it situated in a place where it gets limited sunlight? Overhanging branches can cause a plant to grow sideways even though it may appear to be getting light from all quarters.....well, not the north, obviously.

How much sunlight is it getting?  If it's in a shady spot it'll grow towards the light.

When you prune do you cut back to a upward facing bud?

  • hi Verdun,

yes this is the yellow stemmed and yellow leaf dogwood.  it gets full sun every day the sun shines, not in the wind at all as it is sheltered from by a 7 foot rose but it just insists on growing leaving to the left.
