I have two of these plants growing in my front garden. They were all ready there when i bought the house and i quite like them. I want to know what they are so that i can take care of them. so:

I think you're right! a quick search for spiraea returns some positive ID's, thanks very much
Possibly spiraea gold flame. If it is you can cut in right back to the ground in spring just as new growth starts to appear. Apply a good mulch at the same time.
Bet that has gorgeous flowers!
