My privet topiary leaves have gone white

I bought 2 privet topiary trees about 2.5 feet tall.potted them in New larger pots they are at the front of our bungalow in the afternoon sun. One tree is sprouting but the other looks like it has been sprayed with bleach, nearly half is affected

Any ideas please

    Hi Liz image

Can you post pictures of your trees please to see if we can find some clues as to the problem.

To post photos on here you click on the green tree icon on the toolbar above where you type your post, and follow the instructions - afraid it doesn't work from iphones ... yet.

Have you clicked on the green tree icon?  That should give you a window with instructions.

Another way is to upload your photos to a photo-hosting site and post a link.

    Hope that helps image

Thanks Liz ... how long have you had the trees?

Do the leaves appear to be healthy but white, or are they going crisp and dead?

  • I have had them For 2 weeks and they are going crisp and look like they have been sprayed with bleach, the other tree is perfectly fine.

    Thank you

Is the damaged tree the same on both sides, or does the side facing the corner look healthy?

  • The part of the tree facing the wall is mainly healthy it is approx 50/50

I think that the tree had some soft new growth that has been scorched - either by sun or cold/salt winds.  Whereabouts are you?
