What to do with the shingle?

Hi, I am looking for some advice about making my garden a little less low maintenance. All of the borders are currently under shingle and I want to get rid of it all. However, what sort of bags do I need for getting rid of the shingle? How can they be disposed of? Thanks

    If you bag them up in compost bags you can sell/ give them away or advertise them on freecycle. You need something stronger than a supermarket carrier bag but not too big or you won't be able to move them

  • If you put it on freecycle you may even find that people are willing to come and dig it up and remove it themselves!

    We had a similar issue and used packs of 10 rubble sacks available from big hardware shops - pretty cheap. Gave some away to a friend, some mixed in with soil went in the rubble skip at the tip.

    All good suggestions here- if your soils a bit heavy or compacted - which is quite likely -digging it in would be a good option. The soil will probably need a bit of help if it's been under gravel for a while.

    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    Put it on freecycle, with a sparse layer at the front I'm always on the lookout to replenish!! Be as bold as to ask what they want it for - I wouldn't want to think it was going to be sold on...
