Butternut squash

I've grown a dozen healthy butternut plants from seed - is it possible to plant out in grow bags or do they need to be in thr ground?

I've tried to grow in grow bags they were fine good plants but no fruit. I grew from seeds from a shop bought squash, maybe that was the problem. As with all similar plants, aubergine, melon etc. they need a long warm growing season. Hope you get some produce.

You'd maybe need them under cover - it's been so cold this year that they might not get to maturity without a bit of help.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

    thank you.

I've decided to plant some of them in my raised veg beds and see how they do.
