Bearded Iris

Evening all,

                  Open to advice please,last year i divided my bearded Iris into several other plants now i know i wont get any flowers this year but...What i have noticed is that one of the new rzs has developed several other rzs all look good and healthy just a bit crowed ! Can i divided these this year as they will not flower ? Can i do it now ?

    You could, but then they might not flower next year!  I would leave well alone - it sounds as if it's growing well - in my experience they quite like being a little bit crowded. image  They just don't do too well if left overcrowded for several seasons.

    I had a lot to move two years ago so with no home i planted in rows in a vacant patch in the kitchen garden they gave a show last year a few but this year look fabulous and nearly all showing so i agree with dove  make sure you dont give them too rich a soil thry do better poor and a sunny spot with their feet above soil level i love them only a short lived show but they give spikey structure all year image
