Taking cuttings

shazza3shazza3 Posts: 106

hello, i've recently taken some cuttings of xmas cactus as my plant is very overgrown and they're in the greenhouse at the moment. as i wasn't sure whether to take long or short cuttings, i've done both. i dipped the ends in rooting powder as i didn't know if they'd take without it.

my question is will all the cuttings take and how long will it be before i know ???

i've never taken cuttings from this plant before so don't know what to expect.

thanks

It varies, sometimes you get new leaves in a matter of weeks and sometimes it takes months - as with so much in gardening, patience is the key image
