Painting a fence

Please could anyone tell me whether my dark wood fence can be painted with any colour or am I stuck with it.

The problem is that, we asked for fencing like our neighbour, but never thought about the colour so we are unfortunately stuck with the same as his now!  It's our fault but I would have liked a lighter colour!

It looks like a really dark oak.  Has anyone any advice, apart from not being so stupid next time??!!image

Thanks

Chrissie

You coud try some of those paint testers at 3 for £1. If it doesn't work you've not lost much.

I like the dark oak colour. Better than those ghastly oranges.

    Thanks Nutcutlet!

I see what you mean about the oranges. I guess they will weather nicely too.  I can't wait to get started in tidying up now that we have actually got a boundary and are enclosed.  It's made me feel like doing something....I hope it lasts and welcome ideas

Basically we have decking, (standing on it), gravel, grass and hedge and fence separating us from next door.  I'd like low maintenance ideas if anyone has any? (ignore the thorn bush...it was replaced by the fence and awaiting it's fate!)

    Thanks
