Cosmos from container to border

Hi, I have a Cosmos (sorry, no idea of name) successfully growing in a pot but I would like to put it in the garden. Is this a good time to do it (whilst still in flower?) and also, am I right in thinking it will come back next year? or does that depend which variety it is?  Thanks

  • they are annuals so will only last one year, you could take seeds to start off some new plants next yea.

Yes but what about the chocolate cosmos? that is a tender perennial that you have to dig up and put insideimage

Thanks for replies everyone, Verdon, no smell of chocolate. Oh well, shame they don't come back but I will definitely be getting more next year as this was my first time with Cosmos.
