I tried making my own pots from paper this year. The pots were fine, but strange mushroom like growths appeared on the side of the pot and on the surface of the compost as  well. It wasn't the compost, as the seedlings in ordinary plastic pots did not suffer. Has anyone else come across this? is it likely to be dangerous?

I grew loads of things in home made paper pots, things things that needed long pots, i made them 5inches long, never had a problem, was it on a particular seedling?
