Could anyone tell me if this plant is very tall  or is it as the lady at the store says - a trailing plant ?

I have just checked my garden, bought this last year - found the label but no sign of plant! It was very pretty last year -gorgeous flowers, label says 100cm but it was no way that tall, only got to about 12-18 inches with a very lax sprawling habit. So not trailing but not upright either!

  • I have always thought of evening primroses as tall and upright... at least the varieties i have grown have been. A metre would be about right for the common variety.

Try this one if you want a trailer lucky. Oenothera macrocarpa. Used to be called O missouriensis and you might still find it called that. Easy from seed, Chiltern have it

Enormous flowers for the size of the plant, which is at ground level.
