I have a hankering to grow a flowering standard plant in a South facing border to add a little height. The plot is shielded to the north by a wall and the soil is very free draining.I would prefer something that flowers in the summer........ideas anyone ???

How about a standard fuchsia or a Marguerite?

I thought Fuschias would not like full sun all day (when we get some that is)

Some do, but what they dont like is hot roots, never put a fucshia in a black pot as it absorbs heat, plant something around it to shade the roots., a bit like clematis.

Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
