Many of my collection of hostas are in glazed pots and they get eaten as much as the others here. The only thing I have found works is copper, all pots have copper tape around them, that does help, as do the ferrous based slug pelllets which are not dangerous to other wildlife - though I would still take care with them when in use - children certainly should not be exposed to them, as large amounts of iron can be dangerous to small people.

this hosta is slug free by putting vaseline round the tub, slugs love hostas and ruin the look of them xx
I think the slugs like the pale leaved/varigated ones, must be more tender.
None of my dark leaved ones have been touched.
What a beautiful hosta, Gail. Do you know its name?
I put my hostas into glased pots no more problems

I use a mixture of crushed egg shells and coffee grounds, seems to work ok,and you get the benefit of a gound coffee smell wafting across the patio.
