Green plant swap - spread the word!

I just stumbled across this great website called Green Plant Swap ( where anyone can sign up for free and either buy, sell or swap plants you have grown with other like minded growers in your area and I think it's a great idea.

You can recycle the plants that would otherwise end up on the bonfire or the compost each year and it's also a simple way for you to share the seedlings and young plants that multiply more abundantly than you have room for - instead of chucking them, SWAP them or even sell them! to your neighbours.

Sadly, having registered there seems to be a slight lack in members near me so I thought I would try to spread the word and get people on here as the more people that join, the more advantageous it will be for everyone!

P.S I don't work for these guys, I just genuinely think it's a great idea!

Lovely idea Tom. It would need to be pretty local though or the postage would be more than going to the GC

  • Exactly why we need to encourage MORE people to join!

  • Just seen your site on Right on the Money

Just wondering if there are people in my area who belong. So we can do plant swaps etc

Looks like a great resource - I've just signed up, and somewhat surprisingly, there are lots of like-minded gardeners near me!

Thanks for sharing - I'd never heard of it before :-)

Thought I'd bump this and encourage anyone interested to join :)
  • Thanks for signposting this.  I've joined and there are a couple of people within a mile of me.  Should get busier with swaps as the growing season progresses.

Joined yesterday so hopefully a few likeminded gardeners with plants to sell/swap will be in touch. I have quite a few plants that I can sell of swap, mostly hardy perennials

What a fab idea! I'm going to sign up now. I often pick up plants that kind people leave out on tables and pop some coins in any honesty boxes. It's so lovely.
