hibiscus moving

I need to move an hibiscus and have been told that I can prune it hard after flowering and then move it without harm - is this correct or would it be better to move in the spring please

Verdun, its about 5ft tall and will take some digging out and I've yet to decide where I actually want to put it but it needs to go from where it is before next year
