What flower seeds could I sow outside now to flower this year?
in Plants
Hello, I found a packet of calendula seeds (art shades) in the cupboard and thought I might make a little flower bed outside the front door with them - is it too late for them to flower this year now?
Any ideas for flowers that I could sow outside now would be lovely - I have run out of money for plants but could stretch to a few more seeds!

Calendula would do fine now. As would cornflowers and nigella and a far few more.
for the fag ends of the aristocracy.
Pretty much any half hardy annuals will flower this year, and should not really have been sown yet outside yet anyway (wait till last frost date)

I've bought seed from them before so can recommend
Your timing's absolutely perfect for any half-hardy annuals.
Nasturtiums will be great sown just now - you can eat the flowers and leaves in salads and sarnies and pickle the seeds to use instead of capers. http://www.herbalgardens.com/archives/articles-archive/nasturtiums.html
Thanks for your replies - I'll have to get some more seeds!
Dove, that's interesting about nasturtiums. I know you can eat calendual petals, but I had no idea about these.
Andy there's a few on that list I've got already (but thought it was too late for) so I can get going with those just as soon as i've done some weeding...
