Can anyone help identify this plant?

 We have 2 of these plants growing however I habe no idea what they are! Can anyone help?

I agree with Nut - it's salad burnet - delicious in salads or light creamy soups - I must grow some again

Giood idea. Mine seems to have disappeared though there aresome leaves that might be it mixed up withan ahcillea..

We have a number of different Sanguisorba of different colours. These are mainly S. canadensis. I like them.

Thanks guys! I find it quite amusing that it is almost the same as my second name  

google searched the name and that's definitely what we have. No idea where they came from, we didn't plant them, they just appeared. Maybe came in a wildflower seed  packet we got...? Glad I know what it is now though.

I think you need to alter your name to fit Kirsty. It's good when a nice non-invasive plant turns up unexpectedly

Do those other sanguisorbas need much soil moisture Berghill? I like the look of them but don't have any permanently moist places (except during last summer).

Well though the book says moist soil, I have to say that our soil is very well drained and we get only half the  national average rainfall. Our soil dries out very quickly. They seem to grow ok, perhaps not as tall as the book says, but they flower ok. Decent soil with a lot of humus should suit them.
