How to plant this water lily? Nymphaea Aurora.

Hi, I've just received this nymphaea and the instructions say to plant the roots downwards. I'm struggling to see which way up it is as all I can see are small spindly green shoots. 

 

Help! I don't want to plant it the wrong wafy.

    Green shoots up, usually.  If in doubt, put it in a bucket of water until it's obvious.

    Thanks image I seem to have aquired some larvae of some sort with it too. No idea what though!
