Advice on cress

ive grown some cress from seed but this doesn't look like what I've grown before or what it looks like on the packet. Can anyone advise me and tell me if this is actually cress?

Did you let it grow more than 3" tall? Also I believe that the seeds we buy called 'cress' are actually something else, not the same as the shop bought cress.

No it's not taller than 3", it is about 1-1 1/2"

but it just doesn't look like shop brought.

Hi, 

I realise this post is quite old and the image from the original post is no longer visible but I believe I have the same problem. I decided to try growing some sprouting watercress seeds into a fully grown plant but the true leaves don't look like cress which is worrying. Can anyone advise if this is what it says on the packet before I eat them? Much appreciated.

Watercress and the cress grown as seedlings for salad are different plants -  salad cress is Lepidium sativum (a brassica) and watercress is Nasturtium officinale, so they'd probably look different even at the seed-leaf stage (I've never grown watercress from seed so I don't know what it looks like at that stage).

I have a tray of self seeded watercress which are completely different to the photo above.

That isn't watercress 
I'll go and take a photo [when the hailstones stop  ] to show what they look like when they grow from seed. Mine seeds around in the edges of the pond.

Here you go. You can see the slightly more mature plant top left. The bits in the foreground are all recently self seeded - from around a month or two ago
