Sorry my pic uploaded but not my text. Someone has asked me to overhaul this strawberry planter and its been standing doing its own thing a long time. As you can see there is growth there but everything is a bit of a mess. What needs doing? Do I need to empty the whole planter and start again? its a planter in the same shape as a water butt so it is very deep. any suggestions welcomed.
If it needs restarted how do I do it! Yikes, help!
How old are the plants? Strawberries need changing every 3 or 4 years. I would dig out the strawberries, replace the top 6 inches of compost. Add a bit of fertiliser. Cut of all the old brown leaves, replant the strawberries and water them.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I am not sure. I am trying to do this for a bedridden lady so I will ask her but I think she cant remember. Best probably to do as you suggest if she cant recall.
