Gerbera divide &. Multiply

Alan T talks about dividing perennials now. Would this go for Gerbera hybrids too. T & M last years Gerbera hybrids are good again this year bushy with flowers. Could I divide now or would that be wrong timing. I could remove the flowers for the house and pot up in the greenhouse. Advise needed please. Also has anyone had Gerbera from Hayloft that are not really Gerbera hybrids at all, just a small fluffy version like a winter single Daisy's flower in pale pink or am I the unlucky one?
