Mildew on penstemon cuttings

I took some cuttings of penstemon "Heavenly Blue" in mid- July. They have made good small plants but have now become very mildewed. Advice please as to what I should do now!

Every year mine do that, Nadia, I take no notice then in the Spring I cut then down so they bush out from the bottom, the new growth will be fine then just chop off the mouldy bits. Works for me every year.

is it too late to take cutting if I keep them in a polytunnel?

  • I took cuttings from mine 2 weeks ago Hosta and put them in the greenhouse - I've just done the forbidden 'tug them and see' test and I do believe they've taken image Worth a go for sure! (especially as its warmer now than it was then!)

Go for it Hosta, they will strike now and look at our gorgeous weather, usual right through September.
