stream banking

HI, i have a stream on the edge of my allotment which has a land drain running into it

It has eroded over the years and my other half has just repaired the drain.we were left with a large hole which has now been filled with soil, any ideas what to plant to protect the stream banking? I know willow is good but i think the roots may grow into the drain and damage it. not sure what to plantimage
