Germination of some wildflowers

I have sown some corncockle seeds several times in different locations this spring and they have failed to germinate! The catalogue labelled them as 'easy'... what am I doing wrong? The same also for meadow cranesbill.  Any advice gratefully received.  Thanks

When did you sow them?  It may well have been too cold for them to germinate - if they've not rotted in the cold and wet they'll probably germinate when the soil temperatures have warmed up a bit image

I agee, spring only started a couple of days ago, they haven't had a chance yet. I sow my outdoor annuals when it's warm enough for me to be out there without freezing.

  • I agree - I've not sown any wildflower seeds yet

Might start mine in pots then or they'll not flower before the end of summer and then I won't get seed. Need to get on with it or half my seeds will still be in packets next year like the sunflowers from last year.

  • Thanks for your comments. Some seed was sown back in February - much too early I realise!  I have just resown in the G'house and indoors. Fingers crossed!
