Brussels sprouts
All you Brussels sprout experts, I need some help! Over the last couple of seasons my Brussels have suffered quite a number of 'blown' sprouts, whilst all my other brassicas have performed brilliantly. I know that sprouts must be firmly bedded in the ground to avoid 'wind-shake', and I make sure the soil is well stamped on, and some of the taller plants I stake, but some of the plants still go astray. They are grown at the allotment, which is on the side of a south-facing hill, and I spread Growmore early in the season around the brassica beds. Plants are raised by myself from seed, and I have tried several varieties but the problem still occurs. Should I be using alternative fertilisers, or none at all? Any thoughts out there gratefully received!

good luck Alan
I don't grow sprouts nowadays, don't have the space, but this question stirred a memory from a GQT a long time ago - I remembered something about nitrogen as the sprouts are forming - I've Googled and come up with this
