Can anyone please tell me what type of weed this is? I've researched online and think it may be hedge bindweed, although not entirely sure due to the red leaves and non funnel type white flower.

I have this plant near my pond and I just pull up most of the shoots when they appear. I leave a few for the coloured leaves but so far the plant hasn't got out of hand. It does smell ghastly though.

I am trying to attach photos from my computer, but the 'your computer' window is empty?

A garden plant, but invasive.
Spot on!
I looked on RHS but missed this. Many thanks for your help!
I have gone and bought some roundup gel this afternoon and am planning on wiping all the leaves with it tomorrow in dry weather.
Has anyone had this invasive plant and if so how did you defeat it? Any tips most welcome.

It's one of the few plants I've seen get the better of ground elder - or at least disguise it
