when did you sow them?
They can take some time to germinate 3 or 4 weeks. Also the seeds should be fresh, past their sell by date doesn't work. Although my gardening book says sow from early spring I always wait until the weather warms up and you can get as fine a tilth as possible. Then sow outdoors and don't let them dry out while germinating. They can be tricky, but there is plenty of time as they are in the ground a long time.
hi bruce you are not on your own neither has mine although they are new seeds so im just going to wait some of my farmer friends are having the same problem
Parsnips can take weeks to germinate, they are very moody and have a habit of being stubborn.
Continue to keep moist and wait.
I agree, they can take weeks to germinate and you mustn't allow them to dry out at any point. In my judgement it's too cold at my location (E.mids) to sow mine yet. One 'trick' I use for outdoor sowing is to prepare a wider then normal row and do 3 side by side sowings, each a week or so apart, marking each row with string so that the previous sowings are not disturbed.
