Well a picture is worth a 1000 words so

First lot of top soil arrived this evening but what to do with this area it's around 5 meters square behind this picture is another 34 meters of wall and what till now can mostly be described as stony ground. I'm thinking of going a bit wild with perenial seeds and annuals and going for  more vegetables towards the middle.

but what would you do? Bare in mind the budget is minimal so can't go mad with shrubs. Its pretty much a blank canvas.

Hi, well before you start planing what goes where I would rake out the soil and remove any and all couch grass roots and be careful as any breakages ,you will have new plants growing from the smallest stem then take out any large stones and large sticks ,then brake up any clumps of soil. By the looks of things me thinks you will need a lot more soil .image

If it was me for this year I would buy loads of cheap trays of annuals - they ae always selling them off, sprinkle some hardy annueal seeds and use lettuce as an edible decoration. That way you shoul be able to see what the fertility is.

Hope my top soi lcoming on Tuesday is OKimage
