Knautia

I have read that Knautia have a long flowering period but mine were all over in July having started in May - which is good I know but from what I've read it sounds as though they should last well into August?  Can anyone give me any help?  They are knautia melton pastels and this is their first year flowering having planted as plugs last spring.  thank you.

Regular dead-heading might prolong the flowering. Or cut right back when the first flush is over and you might get a later showimage

Don't bother dead heading ours and they flower on and off until frost. Seed weeds too!

  • I did loads of dead heading and flower cutting to start with.  Then when they started looking ropey I cut them right back.  So I've tried both those!  Maybe next year I'll just leave them to get on with it and see what happens.  Thank you.
