Acers

in Plants
Anybody got a clue why my Acer shed all its leaves please? It is only a small new plant I bought earlier in the Spring from a Garden Centre. I transplanted it in a posh pot with ericaceous compost as I have done with other Acers I have previously bought. Will the leaves grow back or have I got another failure? I put it in a sheltered spot and watered it when necessary with rain water! Any advice would be appreciated please!

They don't need acid soil but they do need never to dry out. My one in a pot gets alkaline tap water and is fine. The three in the garden get rainwater with top ups of hard water form the hose when we have a drought.
