Grafted cucumber plant

I bought a grafted cucumber plant at the weekend. Too cold to put outside so have on my kitchen windowsil, the leaves are shrivelling already, they look like crumpled tissue paper.

Can any one help please?

Maybe put it on the windowsill during the day and move it away from the window during the night.Cucumbers can sometimes be fussy plantsimage I have ordered a couple of grafted cucumbers this year -never tried them before so it will be interesting to see how I get on with them. Thanks Lilylouise

I did wonder if it was feeling the cold, so before leaving for work this morning I moved it to a warmer windowsill, I do hope it recovers.  I have never attempted cues before, good luck with yours image

  • Cucumbers like warmth and moist air. They can be miffy so it may just be the change of environment.

Cucumbers are prone to mildew - spraying the affected area, at the first sight of it with milk and water puts this in check.

One of the best organic tips I've ever found online.

Cucumber plant update - its not looking any worse! image

Should I cut off the shrivelled leaves?

I knew they liked being warm, but didn't appreciate they like moist air - thanks Joyce Goldenlily

Milk and water for mildew, great tip - thanks Marshmello

Eddie, cukes are the veg that probably need warmth most of all. They're usually the last things I plant out. I'd be wary of moist air, particularly still moist air. That's usually a recipe for fungal disease.

Thanks Italophile, I am keeping the cuke warm and I wont plant him out for a while yet.

He did loose a few leaves, but has side shoots sprouting and has doubled in height.

    Fingers crossed image
