hellebores

my hellebore has not flowered in the last two years  plenty of new growth it 12 years old do i  need to dig up and split plant

    Age doesn't usually stop a hellebore flowering in my experience. What are its growing conditions. Perhaps it's sulking about something. Heavy clay, too dry, too wet, too anything else. Can't say I've found them particularly fussy though. 

    Some of my flowers were eaten this year, and the year before last. I blamed muntjacs though nothing was ever proved. Could have been something else. When this happens I can see that there would have been flowers, a stem comes up with some leaves on it and maybe a small side flower. Have you checked yours for signs of this sort of attack?

    I found that some of mine stopped flowering, but that when I gave them a good autumn feed and mulch they started to perform again [ bit like me really ]
