No plumes pampas grass

Lorna95Lorna95 Posts: 436

I wonder if any of you can tell me what I'm doing wrong, about 4 or 5 years ago I bought a pampas grass from the local garden centre, it had it's grass cut down to about 6-7 inches. when we got it home we planted it, It is in a sunny spot, it is planted in a veg bed that we were not using anymore.

I have not had any plumes in all the years that I have had it, can somebody tell me what I have done wrong for it not to create it's plumes and what i can do to fix it.

Thanks for any advice.xx

Do you cut it back if so when also could be too much nitrogen in the soil feed with bonemeal foo phopheros to encourage plumes

pampas grass has a hugely vigorous root system and is even used for soil stabilisation on slopes. Maybe it's producing its root system first.

Hi Zenjeff, I have only cut it back twice since I have had it, just to see if that would help, but nothing I will try feeding it with bonemeal and see how it goes, hopefully that will work.

Hostafan1, I thought it would have produced enough roots by now seeing that i have had it 4 to 5 years, maybe your right, Hopefully I will get some soon.

Thank you both for your help.xx
