I have self-seeded hazels and Norway maples popping up in my garden. You need to post a picture so people can look at the leaves or some other identifying feature.

I have the same Flo, plus field maple, ash, yew, sycamore and birch. There'd soon be a forest if I didn't keep weeding them out.

  • sorry dont have a camera and it has no leaves at the moment i live in a terraced house so were would these trees come from

Lots of tree seeds blowing in the wind - we have ash trees in the back garden and ash seedlings in the front garden.  We have chesnut and oak seedlings appear where the jays and squirrels bury their stash.  And then there's bird droppings .......................

No-one knows if you've done your housework, but everyone knows if you've done your gardening !

Hi Joyce. Birds drop seeds. Acer family and ash float on the wind with their little wings. Birch seeds are very light and move on the wind.

Depends whether you want it or not Joyce. I'd get a definite ID first. It's not all weed trees that germinate in the border. Could be anything from around your area. And quite a wide area at that
