I believe you can propagate watercress from shop bought stuff and have placed some stems in water where they have rooted. What do I do with them now does anyone know? o I pot them up in compost or leave in the water? I would be grateful for any information on this.

They grow in water but need nutrients, not just water. Mine grow in the pond in the mud at the bottom and sometimes come loose and just float around. They may be annuals, they certainly appear and disappear from time to time.

I don't fancy putting mine in the pond as it looks too murky and I have two goldfish swimming around. I wondered whether to put liquid feed in the water. I believe lettuces are grown like this and it is called "aqua culture"

There was a bit on this in the latest GW mag - it said to pot them into a pot lined with plastic, or in ordinary pots stood in water that you change frequently.
We, too, have sprigs in a jar on the windowsill and were wondering what to do next !
Why not try growing Land Cress or American Cress, as it is also known. This can be grown in pots or in the ground, and it tastes the same as watercress. The seed is sometimes difficult to find, but a good garden centre should have it.
Thanks for your tips guys! I think I will try potting them up in a pot lined with plastic and see what happens.
I might try the land cress too if I can find it in my local garden centre.
