Wasps on sunflower plants?

Should I be worried about the wasps that have started gathering on the stalks near the top of my sunflowers? This is the first time I've grown sunflowers from seed, & they are nearly full grown and about to flower, but this weekend some wasps have started hanging around on the largest one. They don't seem to be doing any harm yet, but I have searched online & read that they might be about to chew through the stalks!! Any advice greatly appreciated...

They won't do any harm - if they're wasps they're probably looking for aphids to eat ... but could they be hover flies?
