ground elder help please.

I have dug as much ground elder as possible from our garden .I have still some under a very large camellia.I cannot get under to dig out all the roots so I wondered if there is anything I could coat the  leaves with the idea that it would get through to the leaves take down and back to the roots safely.  But with out  getting on to the shrub roots ?

I spray roundup into a plastic bag and then tie it onto the weed. It stop wind and evaporation drift
