Ewww Large Sawfly

Just found 3 large sawfly on one of my roses in the middle of laying eggs.
(After looking up yellow flies on roses) I 'disposed' of them and trimmed the cane all 3 had been sat on, hoping to get all of the eggs. (RHS site said they laid eggs in the rose stems??)
Other than keeping an eye the rose plants for any hatched larvae, is there anything else I can do?
I have been spraying them with rose clear to try and prevent this plant from catching black spot from another rose plant.
Rose clear does not mention that it is effective against sawfly, only aphids.

I've been finding these sawfly on one rose bush in particular for a week now strange because I'd never seen a rose sawfly before then.
