Slugs
This year is the first time I have tried copper tape to stop slugs eating my hostas. It works. I cut a short length of tape remove it from the sticky backing and stick it along a piece of stick or a tent peg inserted in the soil around the plant. very good result no holes in your hostas

They laugh at any kind of measure taken here Glenys! Only way to keep on top of them is to 'hunt them and chuck them'
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I find the copper tape works well but I just never have enough of it. If they sold it in rolls of about half a kilometre long I could could put a cordon sanitaire around the whole garden maybe.
If you live in Derbyshire, as I do.
99p a roll in Home Bargains. Quite a good size roll. Still needed loads though
One doesn1t need much, copper electrical wire would do. Slugs can sense it and won`t go anywhere near it
