Amenity planting. HELP!!

Hi guys
I have always found that the people on this forum have been very helpful, and I hope you can help me again! I'm studying Horticulture (1st year) and I'm struggling with our latest assignment. We have to design a bed (x6) approx 10msq. There are already two Sorbus in the bed, about 1/2 a metre in from each end. And there is a street light in the middle of the bed.
I just seem to be stuck! I know what type of plants to put in (I think) Viburnum, Tinus; Mahonia 'Charity'; Bergenia; Prunus laurocerasus 'Otto Luyken'; Berberis darwinii; Weigela.... but I haven't a clue about the design aspect. If anyone can give me advice I would be forever grateful.

Not sure if you mean 10m sq (i.e. 10 x 10) or 10sq m (e.g. 5 x 2). If the latter, what are the dimensions? If the former, they really give you some tough assignments - 6 beds at 10 x 10!
