Growing Lavender from seed

Hi there, This is my first time on here so hope I'm doing it right... Basically I have a packet of English lavender seeds and I have tried unsuccessfully for the past 5 years to grow them from seed. I try and do what it says on the back of the packet, but I see other people grow them from seed with different methods. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Just had a look at my records and I sowed Lavandula angustifolia in March last year. But that was a different sort of March. I'd wait til it gets warmer. Sow them in seed compost with a bit of extra grit mixed in and some grit over the seeds. water them, not a flood. I use those unheated propagators. They keep the moisture in. The grit on top keeps the moisture in as well. I don't use any extra heat, all seeds are in a cold frame or the cold greenhouse.
Hope this helps. I have failed with lavender seeds sometimes without knowing why. Last year's were successful though.

I could have planted them last year but didn't get round to it. They're about 4" high and quite bushy. Glad I didn't plant them, they wouldn't have liked all that wet then cold. I've put the pots in the cold greenhouse through the worst of the wet and cold. They've been in and out several times since October.
