Pruning Young Roses

My rose bushes, which are just 2 years old, have already put  on a lot of new growth.  Is it too late to prune them?

    No-but do it soonimage

  • Thanks very much.

  • Is this weekend 28th February 2015 a good tie to prune them?

  • Whereabouts is your garden?

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

  • This year as the last 3 I planted peas and found mice  have eaten  the lot, i can see tell tale holes where they bored in to the soil, even though I set traps. Any suggestions?

You can prune roses all through February and March.

The above pea question would do better in it's own new thread. This one is about roses so pea people may not expect to find it here.

But my mother used to dip pea seeds in paraffin to put the mice off.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
